Singapore may be small, but there are so many places you can visit while you are here – hence, this is ‘Part 1'. For more of my recommendations on “Places To Visit In Singapore”, you can search for ‘Visit Singapore’ under my list of categories, especially for travelers considering holidaying in Singapore or even Singaporeans who are looking to explore more of our country. The places I have chosen for each post are on a random basis and are not in any particular order. I will attempt to group the places according to their areas, but it is still good if you are able to do a bit of research and plan your route, as these posts are only for guidance.
Marina Barrage is actually one of Singapore’s reservoirs. Marina Barrage is also used for flood control, whereby the gates at the dam will be opened and water is able to flow to the sea during heavy rains. There is an exhibition gallery which provides the details on how Marina Barrage works. Do check out the opening hours of the gallery first, though. The structure of Marina Barrage is also ideal as a hangout place with friends or families. I go there often for picnics, kite-flying or photo-taking, especially during sunset – all these are depicted in the photo I took above. It was taken on the rooftop of Marina Barrage. There are also ample shelters when it rains. The night scene from Marina Barrage is also beautiful as it overlooks the Singapore Flyer, which would be lit up with colourful lights. To get to Marina Barrage, I either walk in from Gardens By The Bay or take bus service 400 from Marina Bay MRT Station.
