This gorgeous sunny day turned out to become a park-hopping day with Ueno Park first on our agenda and later on the park grounds surrounding the majestic Tokyo Imperial Palace. In between the parks we had a quick stop at the electric town, Akihabara.
This public park is located right next to the Ueno Station. Ueno Park is well known for accommodating several important museums, such as the National Museum for Western Art, the National Science Museum, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, and the Tokyo National Museum. Besides the museums, the Ueno Zoo can also be found there.
Ueno is an extremely popular park during the cherry blossom season. Thousands of people come from all over Tokyo and its surrounding areas to enjoy a picnic beneath one of the hundreds of cherry trees that line its main passageway. These hanami parties, or cherry blossom viewing activities, sound so cool and I wished we had time to experience one. We only happened to catch the last days of the cherry blossoms.
Since we were tempted with appetizing crepes all over Tokyo we finally gave in as well!
