Once again I was convinced that planning may be a good thing, but in my case spontaneous stuff works better. I had so many doubts about comming to this city. I had a ride from Lille to Paris, who would think to stop in a small town like Amiens? Well, my curiosity has taken over me.
The day when I arrived there was quite rainy (as almost every day I spent in the North of France). But now I miss “European summer weather” back in Ukraine a lot. Having read about Amiens and its floating gardens in my French manuel I thought it would be cool to see this place on my own. Especially when I was so close to it, on my way to Paris. How mistaken I was…It was not cool at all… It was wonderful, marvelous and just fantastic!!
The first surprise for me was to see Russian church women (sorry, i m not sure how to call them in English) selling souvenirs in Amiens Cathedral. Then the Cathedral itself shocked me… IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE SO FAR. Sorry, fans of Notre Dame, for me Amiens is winner. And trust me, you don’t know what miracle is until you get to see the Cathedral at night.
