It’s officially been a week and a half on the road. We swooped from New York through Ohio and up into Michigan, and today we head for Kalamazoo.

We hiked Glen Helen in Yellow Springs, OH and drank the water that turns the rocks to gold and brings happiness and health. We befriended barefoot smiling travelers and dunked our heads under waterfalls. We loved our families and celebrated the beauty of our relations.

A day later we found ourselves in an abandoned and condemned schoolhouse and church in Detroit, in awe of what the 21st century has done to this city.St. Agnes Cathedral in DetroitOh Detroit, you look like a child tired of building your ruddy school yards and gaping chapels and chose instead to color on the walls.

You’re sad by nature but not in practice. Your spirit soars and fears nothing, but on the ground where your body lays scrappers pry loose your ribcage for spare change.Detroit, you intoxicate me.Michigan, I think I’m falling in love with you.A couple of days with family on Tamarack Lake, and we’re back on the road.Thank you, all of you, for embracing us on this journey. It’s a pleasure to know you.
