Road Trip to Charlottesville, Virginia

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, 30 September 2014 | 01:04

One day the BF and I are looking up where The Milk Carton Kids are touring, the next we’re hitting the open road for Virginia to see them live. 11 hours and 900 km later we’re in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the Jefferson Theatre, listening to beautiful close-harmony and acoustic guitars. Charlottesville is a beautiful city, so we decided to take in the sights. Our wonderful hosts were gracious enough to give us an unforgettable tour of the University of Virginia, recommend a nearby winery to try some local vino and point us to sights that were not to be missed.

We’re off! Waiting patiently to cross the Peace Bridge into the United States and crossing our fingers the grapes in the cooler won’t be cause for rejection!the BF sees an old factory, so we stop to take some photos and stretch our legs.

The drive from Toronto to Charlottesville, VA is scenic and beautiful pretty much the entire way!A sign for the Parker Dam State Park caught our attention, so we veered off the highway to see what we might find. The road dead-ended at this small splash dam that was used for transporting lumber as early as 1794.
