The first troops of the British Expeditionary Force reach France after crossing the English Channel. Battalions of the 19th Brigade are accorded a tremendous reception by the French. These initial troops land at Le Havre, are sent to guard the lines of communication and they will remain in camp until the entire brigade is formed. Within ten days, one hundred twenty thousand men will be transported without the loss of a single man or ship.
