Ethiopian Airlines has commenced daily flights from Entebbe to Juba since August 05, 2014. The flagship flight was fully booked.The new service was timely as it fills a void left after the suspension of Air Uganda flights. The multi-award winning airline is on track to adding more weight to its average of 25% in the past 7 years.
In its more than 60 year operation Ethiopian airlines has become one of Africa’s carriers in efficiency and operational success. Ethiopian airlines commands a large share of the pan-African passenger and cargo market, operating a modern a fleet of covering 82 international destinations across 5 continents.
Ethiopian Airline’s fleet currently consists of; Boeing 787, Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 777-200LR, Boeing 777-200LR Freighter and Bombardier Q-400 with a double cabin. This new development has excited passengers who ply the Entebbe/Juba route which saves a lot of time for business travellers. The New Vision travel writer, Titus Kakembo, interviewed some passengers and the Ethiopian airlines Country Manager; “Going to Juba by road is like committing suicide,” says a regular commuter between Kampala and Juba John Nsereko. “And yet we have businesses and families in Uganda and South Sudan. Adding that, there are goods that can be flown to Juba from Uganda. “We pray Ethiopian Airlines provides us with passenger and goods flights. Time and safety is the way to travel in this era of globalization.”
