Homesick in London

Written By Unknown on Thursday, 2 October 2014 | 05:11

I had been traveling nonstop for about two months when it hit. Travelers fatigue, homesickness, call it what you will. I was about to visit my family who were flying to Ireland for my aunt’s 70th birthday party the following week, and the thought of seeing them soon might have brought on the feeling.

The past eight weeks had been amazing. Full of different foods, languages, and cultures, all wrapped up in some very hot weather (which I loved). There had been something new around every corner. Everything I saw and experienced was completely different from anything I had ever seen or experienced before hand. Every conversation was culturally stimulating. It was non stop.

Now in the UK I found I finally had use for my rain coat, and wasn’t in need of a translator to get by. The buildings and the accents might have been different, but London and Los Angeles aren’t that different in the grand scheme of things. Especially when I’d just been in Northern Africa and Eastern Europe.
