Ireland – Dublin (Day 2)

Written By Unknown on Friday, 3 October 2014 | 06:02

On our second day in Dublin we decided to tour Trinity College Dublin, which alone wasn’t all that impressive. However, after a lengthy break to go see the National Museum of Archaeology and the taking of our Costa virginity (I recommend getting Belgian and regular hot chocolates and mixing them together), we made our way back to see the College Library.

We went in order to see the Book of Kells, which is an “illuminated” Biblical text (essentially really fancily illustrated), but I was far more impressed by the library itself. It was one of the most awe-inspiring physical structures I have ever seen and I made myself dizzy looking up with my mouth agape, spinning around, trying to record every last detail in my head. I wouldn’t be able to do it any justice in attempting to describe it, and frankly every picture I took of it was meh at best. It’s something you have to see in person, and if you’re ever in Dublin, it was hands down the most worthwhile thing I saw during my two days in that city.

Ireland, compared to the majority of places we went on our trip, had relatively few “must-do” things on my personal list. The good thing about that is you don’t run yourself ragged trying to see a million tourist-y things in one day. The bad thing is, you unrelentingly must find the few things you do have on your list.
