Literally walked the feet off ourselves in Paris…

Written By Unknown on Wednesday, 8 October 2014 | 01:39

28,957 steps in 12 hours, confirmed that Paris is a wonderful city with so much to see and do. Our walking tour took in Notre Dame, the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Louvre, the Sorbonne, the Pantheon and Folies Bergere…and the small matter of a trip out to Marcoussis to see a rugby game. Not just any old game but the pool game between Ireland and New Zealand in the Women’s Rugby World Cup – a game that Ireland won 17-14. If interested check out the blog with all the details here

I had never been to the Luxembourg Gardens in the Latin quarter of Paris before so I was looking forward to seeing this palace which was built in 1611 by Marie de Medici, the widow of King Henry IV.Around every corner you see another fabulous building. This one was on the way down to Notre Dame and as it was named after St Jacques and my boss was called Jacques I had to take a picture.

Notre Dame is a lovely building but the queue to get inside was horrendous, especially as it was so hot and there was not much shade to be had as it was heading to noon when we got there. So we walked around and took photos from different angles. We crossed the Seine to explore St Germain. En route to the Luxembourg Gardens we saw a sign for the Sorbonne so we had a look at the distinguished University of Paris.
