Summer Lovin’

Summer is my favorite season in Minnesota. The weather is usually perfect with brilliant blue skies, bright sunshine, low humidity and sunsets well past ten at its peak. This summer has not been as red hot as usual. We have experienced a lot of rain and the temperatures have been a bit cooler. But that hasn’t stopped me or my family from spending as much time as humanly possible outdoors. Summer is payback for a brutally long, cold winter. Summer is playtime.

Building sandcastles and having fun at one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes, this one right outside my doorstep in the city of Minneapolis. For me, summer is freedom just to simply be. To be outside, to be free, to take in the warm summer skies and dive into the waters. To bike, to run, to swim, to hike, to play and enjoy spending time with my children who are growing up way too fast.

To enjoy the beauty of nature and plant a summer garden. To shop at the local farmer’s market and grill out every night. To eat watermelon, drink a glass of wine outside at sunset or enjoy fresh corn on the cob.I always get sad when summer ends. It goes way too fast in Minnesota. In less than a month the kids will be back at school again and I’ll be dreaming of the freedom of those hot summer days.
