Please bear with me. This trip was from 2011, which doesn’t seem like long ago, but when you do the math, it was over three years ago. Fredericksburg can be done as a day trip. It’s a 40 minute to and hour and a half drive depending on traffic and construction on 395S. In fact, we did it in 2012 as a day trip with Alex’s parents, who had already seen DC. In 2011, we had deal site voucher for an overnight stay at an inn, so we made a weekend trip out of it.
Our deal voucher included a tasting and lunch at Potomac Point Vineyard in Stafford, Virginia. It was January, so the grounds weren’t much to see at the time, but they looked like they’d be especially gorgeous in the spring. It feels very Mediterranean/Italy. The tastings were great, and we purchased two bottles. The lunch was the most surprising part. I had a delicious panini with sausage on it, and I still remember it three years later! I referenced their menu while writing this blog, though, and I didn’t see it on there.
