Minibreaks and the art of procrastination

Written By Unknown on Thursday, 9 October 2014 | 03:10

I’ve been AWOL from my blog for the last couple of weeks. Alas, it’s not because I’ve been doing anything wildly entertaining like trekking in Peru or even lazing on a beach in sunny climes. Honestly? It’s largely because I couldn’t think of one thing that I’d done that was out of the ordinary or worth sharing on my blog.

Most of my energy over the last fortnight has been ploughed into new work projects, which could be exciting in the long term. For the moment though it’s been all work and no play. So this morning I took myself away from my desk to enjoy a walk along the canal in the sunshine. I know, this is procrastination at its very finest.

Spotting a couple of kingfisher darting to and fro across the water I realised then that sometimes we all have to pause and just enjoy the moment. OK, so today I didn’t really push any boundaries or stick to my plan to do something different. Instead I took time out and enjoyed the sunshine. In a few weeks or so when the days have begun to draw in I shall be glad of this moment. And, you know what, that snatched hour got me back on track.
