Community Group writes: This weekend saw the Stapleford Community Groups event to commemorate 100 years since the start of World War 1.
Many people from Stapleford and surrounding areas attended on Saturday 2nd August inside The Maycliffe Hall where the highlight was a performance by the Arletty Theatre Group called Swan Canaries. The idea to invite this group came from Margaret Downey, Clerk to Stapleford Town Council (pictured with the group).
Then on Monday 4th August St Helens Church Hall was the venue for the next days events.
20140804_093633The highlight of the day was the mock up trench which recreated a full size trench. Simon Frost gave a great guide and brief history of what it would have been like to have been in a trench during World War 1. Pictured in the trench is Danni MacRae reading a ration book.
Stapleford Community Group would like to thanks the groups, organisations and individuals who all spent the last 6 months getting the weekend organised.
