Sometimes I entertained the thought of doing a solo travel, however, being the directional idiot that I am, the idea of blubbering my way through the maze of unknown streets and roads usually put me off that thought.
That, and the fact that having a travel companion to share your travel thoughts with, is important to me. I found a compromise to this situation in the form of a solo yoga retreat to the paradise that is Koh Samui. (read uncomplicated landscape with minimal navigation skills required)
2012 was a rough year for me, so when I chanced upon an advertisement for a yoga retreat, it took me less than half a minute to click the “enquire” button. Escaping alone to a retreat offering yoga classes twice a day, healthy food prepared for you, 10 hours of sleep daily, no housework, plenty of free time to roam the island, read books on the beach, write in my journal….sounds heavenly doesn’t it. There was no fixed schedule, I could choose to tweak it anyway I want. So before I knew it, I was on a plane out of Singapore.
